This past school holidays we held our first Future is Bright STEM & Trades Bootcamp in partnership with Endeavour Energy (NSW)!

On Friday, over 40 talented girls from high schools across Western Sydney joined us for a day filled with inspiration and hands-on activities.

The girls were given a chance to explore what it would be like to climb onto a pole platform, tour the Endeavour Energy Training Centre, and learn about careers in STEM and trades. They even had a go at virtual reality and flying drones!

They also heard from a panel of successful women at Endeavour Energy who shared their stories and encouraged the girls to pursue their dreams.

It was an amazing day, and we can't wait to do it again in the July and September school holidays!

Expressions of interest are open for high schools and students interested in attending.

Planning New Cities – STEM Experience Day

As part of The Future is Bright STEM Program, high school girls from Macquarie Fields High School and Cumberland High School had an amazing STEM Experience Day at the Powerhouse Museum.

At the start of the school holidays girls from Macquarie Fields High School and Cumberland High School spent a day exploring the Powerhouse Museum at our STEM Experience Day.

The girls are currently part of our STEM Program.

A big thank you to Celestino Developments for sponsoring this amazing day which included:

  • A Q&A panel of successful female role models working in STEM

  • Exploring The Invisible Revealed Exhibition at The Powerhouse Museum

  • An urban design problem solving activity based on Sydney Science Park, facilitated by Celestino.

We loved hearing from the girls about their experience of the day.

“Today I learnt about a lot of new careers that I didn’t know are in STEM, and it was really fun getting to know everyone, learning about our mentors and doing a hands on activity.”

“Today I learnt about new projects that I could go into in the future, and more pathways that I could take, other than just university.”

Taylor continued saying that while government can "do lots of things" such as provide grants, establish programs, and talk about STEM, the "most powerful thing" that can be done is addressing the gender issue at grassroots level by women, who are already in the STEM field, voicing their concerns.
